Norman Vincent Peale told of a time that he was golfing with a pro. Peale had hit his golfball into the tall grass – “the rough,” and he made the comment that it was going to be harder to play the ball.

The pro pulled up a blade of grass and told Peale to chew it. “Is it tender?” he asked the author of Power of Possibility Thinking. Peale responded, “Yes, it is tender.”

The pro then said, “Your five iron will cut through that grass like a knife. It is not going to be hard. We call it ‘the rough’, but there is something that you need to know – the rough is only mental.”

The Rough is only mental.

Wow, isn’t that true? So many things we perceive as complications or difficult are really only that way because we’ve chosen to believe it is going to be rough.

Get a new perspective today. The “Rough is only mental.”
